For Ontario workplaces covered by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA), WSIB’s minimum certificate level depends on employees per shift: Basic for five or fewer, Intermediate for six or more. At least one person must be on site at all times with a valid, appropriate first aid certificate. Plan coverage across shifts and work locations, and review the full requirements.
